Towards low-carbon construction

The climate crisis poses major challenges for the property sector:

  • Increasing scarcity of the natural resources needed for construction
  • CO2 emissions linked to building work
  • Energy wastage from poorly insulated buildings
  • Extreme weather conditions

Our awareness must be immediate and effective.

At Orsajo, we decided to take action.

For several years now, we have been researching technologies to address this global issue. Every action counts!

As part of our ‘Building for the Future’ strategy, we have set up a Low Carbon Building Laboratory.

Our aim is to devise solutions to reduce the ecological footprint of the property industry.

Our efforts are focused on three key areas, which are the cornerstones of our innovation policy.

Building homes

energy-efficient

Trusting Orsajo means adopting a holistic approach to building energy-efficient homes. This involves close collaboration between all the parties involved, from the design phase through to completion.

Throughout the project, our measures help to reduce :

  • Energy consumption
  • Greenhouse gas emissions
  • Operating costs for future occupants.

As a result, Orsajo buildings are bioclimatic. They are designed to save energy, while taking into account local weather conditions.

In particular, we study the layout of rooms and windows to maximise natural light and ventilation. The impact is also visible on the electricity bill: it reduces the building’s lighting and air-conditioning requirements.

Dealing with

the climate crisis

For Orsajo, the consequences of the climate crisis are a constant challenge. These issues demand constant vigilance and the ability to adapt quickly.

Whether in Corsica or elsewhere, we are increasingly exposed to the vagaries of the weather. Storms, heatwaves, floods… our climate is changing and we are feeling the effects.

Managing natural risks is a priority for sustainable property. In this context, we are adapting our design techniques by putting in place appropriate protective measures. Our laboratory puts innovation at the heart of its approach. Above all, our solutions aim to build a future where responsible construction and resilience in the face of environmental challenges go hand in hand.

This includes

  • Planting trees to prevent erosion
  • Using weather-resistant building techniques
  • Implementing more resilient cooling systems

Adapting to

local constraints

Each region has its own unique architectural identity. Responsible property development also means preserving this rich cultural and historical heritage. In this respect, we rigorously apply the heritage protection regulations in force.

In this way, Orsajo promotes sustainable construction. As well as complying with strict energy standards, we incorporate green technologies into our programmes:

  • Solar panels
  • Rainwater recovery systems
  • Energy management systems

We also favour the use of bio-sourced materials in all our buildings (raw earth, solid wood or local dry stone). This helps to reduce their overall ecological footprint. Finally, we promote optimised waste management, with recycling and reuse practices.

This policy applies to all our projects, whether in Corsica, mainland France or even abroad.
